Car
Did something ever happen to you that just made you think, how funny would this be if it was happening to somebody else?
That's how I feel about what's happening to my car right now. I've finally figured out what's wrong with it (I think) but it's enough wrong to make me upset. also enough to be kind of funny. Right now the car is a) leaking transmission fluid, b) leaking gas, but only when I put it in reverse, and c) slightly . . . crunchy in places it shouldn't be. Though I'm thinking, a car really shouldn't be crunchy anywhere.
ha. ha. see, it's funny! laugh, you'll make me feel better.

chinese
I'm at this takeout chinese place, waiting for this older man ahead of me to order. He orders and then turns around.
man: Have you been here before?
me: No.
man: You know what's good is the shrimp and broccoli. You should get the shrimp and broccoli. Shrimp and broccoli.
me: Hm. actually, I think I'm going to get the honey chicken.
man: Shimp and broccoli. Shrimp and broccoli!
girl behind the counter: (to me) Shrimp and broccoli?
me: Honey chicken.
Slightly creepy, but mostly funny.

ill-defined student protests / movements
these are probably one of my favorite things about going to a school like this. There have been two so far that just made my day.
ill-defined protest number 1:
The Marines were on campus one day. Students were gathered around the fountain (where the tent was set up) and at first it seemed strange to me that the marines would be so popular. Well, turns out it wasn't the Marines that were drawing the crowd, it was the Grim Reaper in black polyester robes standing by the tent, carrying a (wait for it. . .) cardboard scythe. Yes, the Tacky Reaper was shadowing the Marines. Later I came back out and the Reaper was leading a bored-looking group of students on some kind of march toward the fountain.
Oh, did I mention the middle-aged man wearing what looked like a plaid skirt and a boyscout uniform who had joined the group? Maybe it was a kilt and just a khaki shirt, but it was still confusing . . . and yet strangely awesome.
ill-defined protest number 2:
This is what the sign says:
Wear Red on Thursday:
END THE MASSACRE IN BURMA
I kind of chuckled to myself, but reasoned that there was more on the sign that I hadn't read that made more sense. Later I read the whole thing, looking for sense, but there wasn't any. It was just a show of solidarity, which evidently is going to end the massacre in Burma. Somehow. In an ill-defined undergraduate way.
This school is amazing.

let's make a deal.
okay? I will update my xanga more often, telling of the exciting (and otherwise) things that I do if you will, too.
Deal.
Eek, it's raining. I hope I didn't leave my car windows open.
I probably did, though.
So. Exciting things:
I'm getting paid tomorrow! That's right kids, my first paycheck since I quit the Ear Doctor Data-Entry Slave job in July. What will I do to celebrate? Pay my rent!
Otherwise:
I've discovered that alcohol irritates my MS. Two drinks and my hands and feet and face get all tingly. Not surprising, I guess. But a little disappointing.
I learned a new word today, one which I think will find a great deal of use in the modern English lexicon. Freezza. You know, free pizza, freezza. Wow, that doesn't look anywhere near as clever written down. It looks like some terrible off-brand kind of Fresca. but pizza flavored. ew.
Maybe this should have gone under "Exciting," but this is one of the funniest cartoons I've ever seen.
I found it on Comics.Com . If you go there, you should look up "Cow & Boy" too. It's smart as well as funny.
Last but not least, tonight we have a poetry reading, and afterwards all of us and the poet are going out for some FREEZZA.
delicious.
